Archify Interactive Architecture Maps

TL;DR

Archify is an agent skill for authoring typed diagram specifications and compiling them into interactive HTML or SVG. Its useful lesson for Portfolio is to let people follow one system path, inspect a component, and open supporting source. It does not make a diagram accurate merely by rendering or validating it.

What it actually is

Originally submitted from the Altari guide on September 18; this review uses the upstream repository as its primary evidence.

The Altari guide introduces repository diagrams that can be revised through conversation, validated, and exported. The upstream README describes architecture, workflow, sequence, dataflow, and lifecycle diagrams, with node focus, path highlighting, and guided stories. These capabilities were checked against project documentation on September 27, 2026; this was a documentation review, not an installation or runtime benchmark.

Implementation experiment — September 27, 2026

A native React/Chakra walkthrough was added to the Handwave case study and linked from Project Universe. It uses selected-node details, step navigation, separate camera/demo paths, and source links pinned to Handwave commit 47c98d8c2d358bc12b57c1e8c0e67a36edc7a722. It is inspired by the diagram interaction pattern; it is not an Archify-generated artifact and adds no Archify runtime dependency.

The demo path bypasses camera tracking and gesture mapping. Handwave's actual Start audio action still attempts microphone access; the explanatory portfolio component requests no device permissions. These distinctions came from reading the implementation rather than inferring behavior from the promotional guide.

Limitations and community evidence

Schema and layout validation cannot establish that a diagram correctly describes a codebase. A reviewer must inspect the implementation and keep source revisions visible. Upstream issue #590 reports a large-diagram validation buffer failure (51 nodes / 110 edges); this is a community report, not reproduced here. Keep the first trial small and verify exported output separately from validator success.
